Libraries get loud for school holidays

THE quiet hush of libraries of old has given way to school holiday fun in Ipswich with a host of activities planned for Ipswich, Redbank Plains and Redbank Plaza branches.

Tourism and Libraries Committee chairman David Pahlke said young people were invited to get loud in Ipswich libraries with activities exploring music, technology and design to be held during the school holidays.

An Amplified Sounds workshop will help participants turn lumps of wood and wire into DIY instruments.

For those keen to connect with technology, Makey Makey workshops will give young people the opportunity to transform bananas into a playable electronic keyboard with Scratch.

Young people can also discover uncharted synthesized sounds with Little Bits Synth kits.

There will also be more music and culture with drumming performances from Hello Africa.
