LETTER: Try a 'no meat' Christmas feast

IN RESPONSE to the thought provoking letter in the Queensland Times (2/12), "Turkeys won't be giving thanks,” Jenny Moxham clearly exposed the horror of innocent animals' fate in the "festive season.”

I wonder how many people who read about or watch horrendous footage of the violently cruel treatment of animals in slaughterhouses feel repulsed.

There is a disconnection from the effect our western diet, which consists of huge amounts of animal products, is having on the animal victims in our food chain.

I see people almost drooling over the pristine, plastic wrapped animal parts, in supermarkets.

With Christmas approaching, billions of turkeys, chickens, pigs and fish will be slaughtered.

All slaughterhouses are the closest thing to hell on Earth imaginable.

There is no excuse for the decades of abuse gentle animals suffer simply for taste bud pleasure.

We have so many delicious vegan options to eating animals available.
