LETTER: Put down the mobiles and talk face to face

IN a world dominated by cell phones, ipads, laptops; society long ago lost the art of face to face conversation.

Everywhere you go you see people with a cell phone stuck to their ear and they will waffle on for hours about nothing.

Try to engage these people in an intelligent conversation face to face, and you will find they can’t string three words together.

Texting has a language all of its own. Is it any wonder literacy is at an all time low?

Where are the great thinkers, movers and shakers in this troubled world?

It’s time to get back to what matters; friendship, and face to face conversation where you can toss around ideas and answers. We need an “avant-garde” of people committed to bringing forth some originality to this crazy society we have trapped ourselves in.

It won’t happen while everyone is welded to an electronic device!
