LETTER TO EDITOR: V-8 powered wheelchair real dream machine

I WAS walking past a secondhand shop the other day; you wouldn't believe what they had in the window.

It was something I've always dreamed of owning - a V8-powered wheelchair that had everything; power steering, air, automatic, an aeroplane seat, wide tyres and, best of all, a very loud muffler. Seeing it was like a dream come true.

I said to the man, this is what I've been looking for all my life. He said it was a one-owner; the old lady who originally purchased it only used it on Sundays to go to church. He also said that her son gave it a grease and oil change every six weeks.

I asked him if I could take it for a test run; he said I could but he would have to come along.

Talk about thrills. Here we were going down Musgrave Street, the wind blowing in our hair, people waving at us. I said to him, do you mind if I see what it can do? He said go for it but watch out for the police, so I put the pedal to metal and got up to 6km an hour.

The only thing I have to do now is to get him to give me a better deal.

There could be more to this story.
