LETTERS: Leave Tony alone, he's doing than the other mob

IT CAME as no surprise to me that the people in Ipswich don't think our PM Tony Abbott is doing a good job and it would have been a big shock to me if he'd got any praise or thanks from Ipswich.

Ipswich has always been known as one of the safest Labor seats regardless of any election held and most Labor voters have short memories when it suits them.

Surely regardless of who you voted for you cannot forget "The Magnificent Trio" of Rudd, Gillard and Swan and the mess they left Australia in and the enormous debt we are in and how else can we get out of the mess unless we set tough measures to do so, and as to say all the lies and broken promises he has - what about our "trio"?

First Rudd saying he'd never challenge Gillard for top job. What a laugh. Gillard no carbon tax under me and 10 minutes later we had one, also Swan "my budget will be in surplus" what a load of rubbish. But to Labor voters that was ok.

Since the Abbott government has come to power no illegal boats have arrived and no deaths at sea and as for Shorten and others putting fear into older folk re pensions should all be ashamed of themselves as no change to pensions comes in until 2017 and if they meant to help Australians let the Senate get on with the job and pass some of the bills before it now.

I am an aged pensioner, pay rent, don't drink, smoke or drive a car, but I go out to lunch and movies and bus trips, my pantry and freezer is well stocked and I pay Private Health - so one can live on the pension and I am happy to receive it.

I also read a write up from Shayne Neumann but I couldn't find the word "sorry" for his part in leaving us in a mess.

Leave Tony alone. He's doing the best he can to get us out of this mess and give him a little praise and thanks for the job he's doing.

BETH CARTWRIGHT, One Mile.
