'Burn-out' no match for brick fence

AFTER a drunk driver's vehicle ploughed through a brick fence, he pushed it back onto the road and drove off with a blown tyre.

Witnesses saw Aiden Keith Isaacson, 21, slow to do a U-turn before doing a "burn-out" and losing control of the car which mounted the gutter.

The car struck a wheelie bins in front of the Redbank Plains home before smashing through the brick fence just after midnight on May 31.

Isaacson and his two passengers pushed the badly damaged car back onto the road and drove away - despite having a burst tyre.

Police located them and Isaacson said he didn't know anything about the crash. The learner driver blew 0.133 and confessed, saying he put his foot on the accelerator "heavier than usual".

He pleaded guilty at Ipswich Magistrates Court to drink-driving, driving without due care and attention, failing to provide details at the scene of an accident and failing to comply with a learner's requirements.

Isaacson said: "I don't usually like to drive when I'm drunk". He was fined $1800 and disqualified from driving for nine months.
