League legend inspires participants in program

BREMER State High's new rugby league program received warm praise from rugby league legend Glenn Lazarus this week.

The league program for Year 9 students is overseen by Michael Seiler and he said it had been a huge success.

"We had a good group of boys in Grade Eight last year who were always training and doing the right thing, so this year we made it into a new program with a class," he said.

"We have boys and some girls doing it as well. They are doing a Certificate 3 in fitness next year in Year 10, so those who don't go on and become players have got something to keep them in the industry as well." Mr Seiler said the class was "pumped" to have Mr Lazarus speak to them about his own experiences in league.

Mr Lazarus said he was "really excited about Bremer High's new rugby league program".

"Any opportunity I get to promote rugby league I grab with both hands," he said.

"Rugby league in Ipswich is very popular and I'd like to think this will go from strength to strength looking at their players. There are some big boys there and I am sure they will go all right."
