McCleary and Massey lead by example

IPSWICH Girls' Grammar School has named its two leaders for the 2015 year.

Sophie McCleary of Kensington Grove, and Jane Massey of Mt Crosby came out on top after a rigorous application process towards the latter stages of last year.

The proud seniors were officially named as the school's Head Girls in a ceremony held yesterday.

Dean of Students Jayne Acutt said the captains were chosen based on votes from staff and peers, plus an interview with principal Dr Peter Britton.

"They were chosen for being the most impressive young women; their commitment to their studies, their honest and humble characters, their support of others within the school community and beyond it, their love of IGGS and adherence to all standards and expectations," Ms Acutt said.

In their acceptance speech, the Head Girls thanked their "phenomenal support network" of peers, families and teachers.
