Lawrence Springborg slams Shadow Health Minister

QUEENSLAND Health Minister Lawrence Springborg has called on his Labor counterpart Jo-Ann Miller to step-up to the plate next year and take her portfolio seriously.

Mr Springborg said on Tuesday Ms Miller had shown a distinct lack of interest in the shadow health portfolio throughout the year.

"Only two questions out of 660 Questions without Notice asked throughout the year during Question Time were from Labor's Shadow Health Minister to me," he said.

"A pitiful 0.3%.

"These figures yet again confirm Labor's disinterest in health issues, whether it is for our highly regarded workforce or patients seeking the best possible care."

Mr Springborg used the start of a new year to offer a thinly veiled olive branch to union bosses across the state.

"Everyone knows that the LNP and union bosses will not always see eye to eye but it is now time for union bosses to think about what their membership needs, not what Labor needs," he said.

Mr Springborg said the health portfolio was the largest employer and service provider in the state.
