Krishelle is running the path to beat depression

EMBRACING the new Krishelle Greentree, the 19-year-old struggles to remember her old self.

Krishelle's beaten depression and anxiety, lost 30kg in the past 12 months, and is now on the path to helping others do the same.

She's also halfway through a Masters in Personal Training at the Australian Institute of Fitness.

"I'm proud of what I've achieved," Krishelle said. "It'll be good to get my story out to young girls who might be going through what I was."

With the support of Suncorp Bank's runPositive program, Krishelle will wear a singlet emblazoned with "I runPositive for beyondblue" when she joins thousands of runners taking part in the Bridge to Brisbane on September 1.

Diagnosed with anxiety four years ago, things went from bad to worse for Krishelle and before she knew it she was battling depression.

During her darkest days she visited beyondblue's My Story page to use the stories of others battling depression to help her overcome her illness, and hopes her achievements can help someone else.

"I am running so that someone out there can look at me and hopefully know that if I can get through (depression), they can too," she said.

"If my story can help one person get through depression or anxiety then this will be worth it. So many people these days end their life because of depression and I want people to know that you can beat it."
