Kindy helps kids tackle school life

KIDS who go to kindergarten will start their schooling life a step ahead according to Melissa Muller.

The co-director of Boonah District Kindergarten said with assessment already starting at Prep level, going to kindy gave kids a chance to learn and play in a relaxed environment.

“I think more people are aware the amount of learning that happens from birth to five years (and) kindy gives children a learning opportunity before school,” she said.

Ms Muller, whose children both went through the rural kindergarten, invited parents to come to their Open Day to see what kindy was all about for themselves.

“The whole idea of the day is for parents have a look around, talk to staff and enrol their kids,” she said.

Ms Muller said going to kindy not only helped kids gain valuable social skills but also got them used to routine.

“There is a big social aspect and kids get involved with exciting learning opportunities too,” she said.

Boonah District Kindergarten, located at 5 Haag Rd, Teviotville, will host its annual Open Day on Saturday, June 18 from 7.30am-9.30am.
