Kids twinkle in twilight event

LIGHT rain failed to deter the competitors from putting their best foot forward at the Ipswich Little Athletics Twilight Carnival.

More than 500 athletes, aged five to 16, took to Bill Paterson Oval for events including 60m hurdles, 80m hurdles, 90m hurdles, 70m, 100, 200m and 800m, high jump, long jump, shot put and discus.

Despite the carnival finishing early due to the threat of thunderstorms, the day was a huge success with hundreds of competitors coming from outside the area.

Ipswich Little Athletics Centre's next major competition is regionals at Bill Paterson Oval, which will be hosted by Souths Little Athletics from February 6-7.
