Jury unable to reach unanimous verdict in molestation case
A JURY who deliberated for nearly two days has been unable to decide whether a goat breeder molested a young boy at a barbecue.
Laurie John Cotic, 60, pleaded not guilty this week in Ipswich District Court to three counts of indecent treatment of a child.
The court heard the alleged offences occurred on January 3, 2015, during a barbecue he was invited to in the Lockyer Valley.
Judge Alexander Horneman-Wren discharged the jury on Thursday at 2.25pm after they informed him they could not reach a unanimous verdict.
The matter was listed for mention on February 23.
