Juniper's dispute over penthouse ends in negotiations

LEGAL representatives for Juniper Property Holdings and a businessman had been expected to close their cases on Friday but were instead locked in negotiations.

Juniper and entrepreneur Carmelo Caltabiano have been in a legal battle over the sale of a Gold Coast penthouse apartment in 2006.

Juniper, which developed Oceans in Mooloolaba, claimed Mr Caltabiano breached the sales contract for the $16.85 million four-level apartment in the Soul building in Surfers Paradise.

The company was fighting to keep his $1.7 million deposit on the penthouse, along with interest and damages.

By Mr Caltabiano, who has previously bought property from Juniper on the Sunshine Coast, claimed he was misled when buying the property.

The Supreme Court trial was due to finish on Friday but continued to be adjourned to later hours throughout the day.

Parties were due to resume at 2.30pm but it did not go ahead.

It is believed both sides were negotiating towards a possible settlement.
