Jewellery giant coming to North Burnett

GLAMOROUS jewellery will now be at the fingertips of eager North Burnett shoppers, thanks to a coronavirus initiative.

Michael Hill Jewellers have announced their foray into regional Queensland, providing a virtual appointments at the click of a button.

Jewellery consultant Stan Williams, born and raised in Monto, knows the struggle of not having immediate access to certain services.

“When it comes to shopping, there are fantastic local stores, however there are limitations,” he said.

“A lot of people in Monto and the North Burnett revert to online shopping instead of travelling the 2.5–3 hour drive to larger towns to buy things they don’t have access to.”

Mr Williams worked at HeilBronn’s Mensland in Lister St growing up, before leaving to Brisbane for university.

Now working for the international jewellery company, the business has created a platform which will allow residents to buy necklaces, earrings, and more virtually.

“Buying a piece of jewellery is something that every person does, whether it’s for an engagement, wedding, or something for ourselves,” Mr Williams said.

“Now they can book virtual face-to-face appointments with me, someone they know and trust, as a Monto local.

“In short, I am bringing Michael Hill to Monto, and the region.”

First created in Brisbane to adhere to coronavirus restrictions, the technological business move online seeks to keep the shoppers connected in our post coronavirus society.

“We wanted to give people the opportunity to make the same connection with us just as they have done in store for 40 years,” he said.

“Jewellery is an emotional purchase, usually marking an important occasion in life.

“These occasions obviously continued during the COVID-19 shutdown, and we found a way to help celebrate these by introducing virtual appointments.”
