Jack's tome brings useful tips on winemaker's tipple
LAIDLEY'S beer and winemaking identity, Jack Faber, has released his latest book, Wine Making Made Easy.
Since the success of his previous publication, Brewing Better Beer, printed in 2005, Mr Faber has decided to direct the focus of his new book towards winemaking.
"The book details my own story as a winemaker as well as many recipes for a variety of wines," he said. "It contains all the information anyone will ever need to know."
Mr Faber has been making wine for the past 40 years, and has been brewing beer for the past 30.
"Despite that, I don't get to drink much of it as it all goes into competitions."
He has been president of the Lockyer Amateur Brewers Guild since 1992. The guild now boasts 20 members and meets at Mr Faber's house at 30 Douglas McInnes Drive, Laidley, at 7.30pm on the final Friday of each month.
"We're always looking for new members interested in either beer or winemaking," he said. "I can say from experience that the sooner you get into brewing the better, as the process can create a great deal of angst as it goes along."
