It's not like the movies

KATE Perry takes to the stage in Noosa on June 7, not singing for her supper, but acting in the one-act play Three Angry Brides.

Perry has spent the past 10 years as a professional performer, just like her famous pop star namesake, but training and working as a professional actor, now based here on the Coast.

Shortly after completing her diploma of speech and drama through the Trinity College London and receiving the Quota International Brisbane Maibry Wragge Award in 2009 for her results, Perry relocated to Melbourne and worked on several TV programs and commercials before returning home to Noosa.

She will appear alongside Nathan Hynes, Adele Comber, Steve Mitchell, Rachel Halverson, John Woodlock and Callum Hamacek in this delightful romantic dramedy, written by Hugh O'Brien.

Experienced Woodlock is hilarious as Reverend Bruce Hill, who has his own take on marriage preparation, and won't marry any couple until they pass his unique Zulu marriage test.

The regular minister has been taken ill and replaced by the feisty Rev Hill.

The three young couples, due to marry in just four days, have their relationships put to the test, but will they still want to marry after 30 minutes with the reverend?

Don't miss the three finalists in the Noosa One-Act Playwriting Competition, as they take the stage for the first time, and vote for the Nancy Cato Audience Choice Award.

Also don't forget the charity performance on Wednesday, June 13, to help raise funds for the Riding for the Disabled organisation.

Performances are: June 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15 at 7.30pm; matinees on June 10 and 16 at 2pm
