Monsters in the sky - who are worst passengers to fly with?

WHAT would annoy you most on a 16-hour flight from Brisbane to Dallas? A crying baby? A smelly hippy? Or how about the bloke in front who keeps his seat reclined for the entire flight?

Editors at AirlineRatings.com, the world's first safety and product rating website, have listed their 10 worst passenger types.

Reclinus Maximus and Parentus Slapdashii topped the list.

Editor Geoffrey Thomas said it was a "toss up between parents who think their 200 fellow passengers are babysitters and the thoughtless passenger who reclines into your space from takeoff to landing".

Sunshine Coast airport manager Peter Pallot has done more than his fair share of travelling over the years.

Foot in your Bachus might top the list.

"I don't like being bumped all the time by someone sitting behind me," Mr Pallot said.

Mr Thomas said various global surveys back up the editors' picks.

"One survey by the UK's Telegraph newspaper found that nearly 70% of travellers would be prepared to pay more for a child-free cabin," he said.

Mr Thomas said another problem passenger was Smellus Incredibilus.

Coolum teenager Pip Valstar, who travels overseas several times a year, agreed.

Armrest Grabbis and Chatticus Majorus also made it into the top five.

AirlineRatings.com warned there was a "dark side" to inconsiderate characters.

"It has been estimated there are 10,000 incidents of air rage a year in the US alone,'' Mr Thomas said.
