Italy gets its fifth PM in 5 years

FOREIGN Minister Paolo Gentiloni is poised to become Italy's fifth prime minister in five years and the fourth in a row to take office without winning a national election. President Sergio Mattarella has asked the 62-year-old former journalist to form a new government following the resignation of PM Matteo Renzi after losing a referendum on reform of the senate and constitution. Top of Mr Gentiloni's list will be managing Italy's troubled banks. Monte dei Paschi di Siena, the world's oldest bank and Italy's third largest, may need state help to beat collapse.
