Ipswich woman charged over stolen vet drugs

AN Ipswich woman is one of two to be charged following an investigation into the alleged theft of two cars containing horse drugs.

Police will allege that between 9.30pm on April 23 and 10am on April 24, two vehicles belonging to a veterinary hospital at Manly West were stolen from Manly Road.

The vehicles contained emergency vet supplies, including 20 intravenous horse drugs used to sedate or euthanise animals.

The drugs are considered extremely dangerous and even small amounts can be harmful.

Both stolen vehicles have been recovered; including one at Raceview on April 27 and the other at Sunnybank on April 29, however the medication and other veterinary equipment is still missing.

On Thursday, investigations led the Ipswich Tactical Crime Squad and the Bayside Crime Group to an address in Canning Street, North Ipswich, where police will allege they located the vast majority of stolen medication, including the drugs Lethabarb and Ketamine, as well as some other illicit drugs and a firearm.

A 28-year-old North Ipswich woman has been charged with possession of tainted property, three counts of possession of dangerous drugs, two counts of possession of controlled drugs, possession of drug utensils, possession of a firearm and obstructing police.  Further charges are expected.

She is due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court June 6.

A 29-year-old Manly West woman has been charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, stealing and driving whilst unlicensed.

She is due to appear in the Wynnum Magistrates Court on June 15.
