Ipswich weather forecast for Christmas Day

CHRISTMAS Day could be better spent indoors for Ipswich residents with showers forecast for December 25.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Rick Threlfall said locals in Ipswich and the Scenic Rim should expect one or two showers with better weather predicted for Boxing Day.

"At the moment there is a little uncertainty but it looks like an upper trough will bring a chance of showers for Christmas Day," he said.

"The day will be on the cloudy side and it will be similar on Boxing Day but the chances of showers should ease.

"It won't be really humid or hot with temperatures a bit below the average for that time of year."

Mr Threlfall said Ipswich would usually see temperatures reach 31 degrees around Christmas, but this year the mercury was only expected to reach 28-29 degrees.

"The temperatures should be a bit below average due to the cloud and wind coming in from the east and south-east," he said.
