Vampire group role play for fun
THEY don't drink human blood and can walk around in sunlight without fear of harm but a growing legion of locals have embraced their place among Ipswich's ‘children of the night'.
Vampire Ipswich members meet on Saturday nights at fantasy gaming store Under the Stairs in the Old Flour Mill on Brisbane St.
Owner Shaun Booth said as part of role playing games such as Vampire: The Requiem, players took on roles of characters of vampires, werewolves or even mortals.
Mr Booth said there were also plans to host more elaborate live action role plays.
He said Vampire Ipswich had been born to satisfy the growing interest in the dark genre.
“People love the fact that the supernatural world is all over the media,” Mr Booth said.
“From Twilight to True Blood and even older TV shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
“As part of the role playing they get to act like their favourite characters from TV shows.”
Mr Booth said role playing gave people the opportunity to indulge their darker side.
“It is a chance for them to show a different side of themselves and meet new friends at the same time,” he said.
Vampire the Requiem is played each Saturday night under the stairs from 6pm.
Entry for night dwellers is $10 per person.
