Teachers winners with kids

COMPETITIVE school kids are believed to be behind a surge in the festive gift market as they vied for the attention of their teachers.

No longer happy with leaving an apple on the desk to get in the good books, students spent an average of $15 on treats for teachers at the end of the school year, according to new research released yesterday by Coles.

Soaps, bath salts, body scrubs and lotions were favourites for “Miss”, while “Sir” can look forward to shower gels, body wash and biscuits under the tree.

The research revealed overall, more female teachers receive Christmas presents than males, although the value of the gift for men is slightly higher.
