Ipswich school makes heritage listing

MARBURG State School in Ipswich is one of three rural Queensland schools to be added to the state's heritage register.

Queensland Heritage Council chair Peter Coaldrake said the three schools - Murgon, Marburg and Maroon State Schools - demonstrated how state education and school buildings in Queensland have evolved.

Marburg State School opened in 1879 as Frederick State School and was relocated to its current site in 1922.
