Ipswich school all clear following hoax calls

POLICE have given the staff and students of Silkstone State School the all clear to return to class following a bomb hoax earlier today.

The school was one of at least eight across Queensland that were targeted in another series of bomb hoax calls, believed to be related to multiple calls received earlier in February.

Police said the calls were routed through Boonah Police Station - making it appear as though the police station was the source of the hoax - and that the message contained a robotic voice.

Previous hoax calls have been routed through Caboolture Hospital.

Silkstone received the call just after 9am this morning, with the buildings cleared about 11.30am.

Police have set up a special unit in Brisbane to investigate the ongoing hoax calls.

Today's incident is not related to yet another hoax call that was made to Bundamba State Secondary College yesterday.

Police apprehended and cautioned two children over that incident.
