Payroll IT boss gone

THE man dubbed the “Mr Fixit” of the Queensland Health payroll debacle has resigned.

Opposition Information and Communication Technology spokesman Scott Emerson said the departure of Queensland Health deputy director-general Michael Walsh followed the October resignation of payroll services director Alan McGraw.

A new payroll system was introduced at Queensland Health in March and has since made thousands of mistakes with pays.

An independent report recommended the Government keep it anyway, but fixing the system will cost $209 million and take 18 months.
