Honours for triple-0 duo

A RURAL firefighter and Ipswich’s top cop were among those recognised in the Australia Day Honours List this year.

Ripley Valley rural firefighter Jim Runham, previously a recipient of the Order of Australia Media and the Star of Courage, was this year recognised for his work for the Queensland Fire Services.

Queensland Fire and Rescue Service rural operations assistant commissioner Steve Rothwell said Mr Runham was a fitting recipient.

Mr Runham played an important role in developing a statewide book to help rural fire brigades with GPS and computer mapping.

Ipswich Police Superintendent Garth Pitman, who recently co-ordinated the Ipswich region’s response to the floods, received the Australian Police Medal and Brassall ambulance officer Deanne Maree Taylor-Dutton was honoured with the Ambulance Service Medal.
