ROCKY residents Ira Geebung and Glynis Mason have became stuck in the floods.

Holiday twice as harrowing

IRA Geebung and Glynis Mason left their homes at Rockhampton for a relaxing Christmas with friends at Ipswich.

But as they settled in to Riverview, they heard of the devastation of the Rockhampton floods.

The friends were unable to get back to Rockhampton as roads and airports were shut and Ms Mason has grave fears that her home flooded, destroying all her belongings.

Then the floods arrived at Ipswich.

“It’s shocking,” Miss Geebung said.

Miss Geebung said she had now moved with her friends and relatives to Eastern Heights and they had yet to return to the house at Riverview.

“We’re up on a hill but the two houses before us were under water when we left Wednesday. But we don’t know what the circumstances are like now.”
