IPSWICH hockey teams enjoyed another successful weekend over their Toowoomba opponents in the A-grade intercity competition.

Easts had the biggest win in the men's competition, outclassing Toowoomba Past High 10-2.

Ipswich competition mid-season final winners Hancock Brothers continued their steady progress by accounting for Toowoomba Newtown 5-3. Hancocks player/coach Jake Burns netted a hat-trick in that game.

In an all-Ipswich encounter, Norths held out Wests 4-3.

"We were lucky to get away with a win,'' Norths captain Mark Pocock said.

"They (Wests) nearly got a goal at the end to draw it. They played really well.''

In weekend women's A-grade matches, mid-season final winners Wests beat Toowoomba Newtown 2-0.

Swifts/Thistles held out Toowoomba Red Lion 3-1 and Norths Ipswich were too strong 5-3 for Toowoomba side Rangeville.

Bellbowrie lost to Toowoomba Past High 4-1 with Ipswich competition leaders Hancocks losing 2-1 to Norths Toowoomba.

The intercity series continues between Ipswich and Toowoomba teams this weekend with some matches at Raceview on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

No junior matches are on this weekend due to the school holidays.
