Firies available to hose out homes

PEOPLE in Ipswich flooded areas who need help from the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service to wash out their flooded houses are being urged to call the Ipswich City Council call centre on 3810 6666.

Mayor Paul Pisasale said State Emergency Service personnel were yesterday conducting a survey of flooded areas to best assess where help was required.

“The military presence in flooded areas of Ipswich increased this morning, with 50 sailors from the Australian Navy joining the recovery effort at Karalee,” Cr Pisasale said.

“They will be joining 250 Australian Defence Force personnel already working at North and South Goodna, Brassall and North Booval.

“We have groups of volunteers from 10 to 50 people waiting to be deployed, so if you are the owner of a flooded home and need help, call the centre on 3810 6666.”
