Will you be hot to trot at Cup?
FORGET your old worn-out jeans and daggy shirt.
This year's Ipswich Cup is the perfect excuse to put on your best clothes and wow the crowds as part of the Fashions on the Field competition.
Not only are entrants sure to turn heads at the Ipswich Turf Club come race day on June 18, but they also will be in the running for a number of prizes.
This year The Queensland Times are running Fashions on the Field, and QT marketing manager Amy Williams said it was exciting to be involved with the glamorous event.
With the Ipswich Cup the hottest event in the city's social calendar, Ms Williams said she was hoping to see plenty of men and women sign up to enter.
She said entrants don't have to break the bank to be in with a shot – all that is required is something that makes your outfit stand out from the pack.
This year's categories include Best Ladies, Men, Couple and Creative.
“All you have to do is sign up on the day – registration opens when the gates open,” she said.
“We just want to see people join in on the fun. It's one of the only days of the year where you have an excuse to really dress up and have some fun with fashion.
“Coming dressed up just adds to the fun of the big day.”
Ms Williams said prizes were to be confirmed, but would definitely include vouchers for a weekend holiday away and shopping vouchers. Entrants have to register for the competition at the QT's Fashions on the Field stand.
The Ipswich Cup is the most popular race day in the state, with a record crowd of 24,152 in attendance at last year's meet.
General admission tickets are available through the Ipswich Turf Club Office by calling 32821500.
Tickets are $20 if pre-purchased prior to Ipswich Cup Day or $25 if purchased at the gate on the day. Gates open at 10am.
