Couple welcome Christmas baby

AN Ipswich couple had an extra reason to be jolly this Christmas, with the arrival of their first child.

Eshan Bimoli, a healthy baby boy, was the first child born in Ipswich on Christmas Day with his mum giving birth at 3.28am.

Proud mum Srijana said she was delighted her son, who weighed 2950 grams and was 49.5 centimetres long, was born healthy and happy.

"He is just beautiful," Mrs Bimoli said.

Eshan was supposed to be born on January 2 but when Mrs Bimoli went into labour last Thursday they knew their gorgeous baby boy was going to arrive early.

Eshan’s father Bipin couldn’t be happier his son arrived earlier.

"We still share the same star sign and we get spend more time together," he said.

Eshan, who was born in Ipswich Hospital, was given a Santa hat and matching booties to celebrate his Christmas birth.

Seven babies, including Eshan, were born in Ipswich on Christmas day, four boys and two girls.

The last baby to be born on Christmas Day in Ipswich arrived at five past five in the afternoon.
