Comedy worth more than Peanuts
A POPULAR cartoon has become a musical comedy hit.
Fans of the comic strip Peanuts can enjoy the bright musical You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown in Ipswich later this month.
Director Kyle Breese says the show has wonderful moments, memorable music and characters that audiences will already be familiar with.
“I decided to direct it because it is such a nice show,” he said.
“Its music is intriguing and beautiful and it’s one of those shows you’d feel good about and remember after you leave.
“The revival has never been done in Queensland before and we thought it was time to bring it here.”
Originally the music and lyrics were written by Clark Gesner, based on the characters created by cartoonist Charles M Schulz in his comic strip Peanuts.
“The basic plot is that the show follows a day in the life of Charlie Brown,” Mr Breese said.
“He spends the day struggling with activities and striving to be this ‘good man’ people keep telling him he is.”
In the Orpheus Chorale cast are Sam Hoepner (Charlie Brown), Eldene McIntosh (Lucy Van Pelt), Daniel Inglis (Linus Van Pelt), Lauren Roche (Snoopy), Krystel Spark (Sally Brown) and Matthew Semple (Schroeder).
Performances of You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown are on February 25 and 26, and March 4 and 5, at the Ipswich Orpheus Chorale Hall, Chermside Road.
A matinee performance will also be held on March 5. To book, call 3294 0222.
