Ipswich centre athletes share in stunning 210 medal haul

IPSWICH Little Athletics centre competitors shared in many fine efforts at the recent Metro West Regional Championships.

During competition on February 6 and 7 at Bill Paterson Oval, hundreds of athletes tried to qualify for the Queensland Little Athletics State Championships being held at QSAC from March 18-20.

Ipswich centre athletes won 210 medals, comprising 88 gold, 63 silver and 59 bronze.

A number of records were broken, including a 30 year old standard by Calab Law in the under 12 boys long jump. Calab jumped 5.30m.

The record belonged to Shaun Cranny, who still holds numerous regional records. Shaun was an exceptional athlete in the 1980s.

At the Metro West titles, Ipswich was dominant in the race walking events with numerous records broken.
