Ipswich builds hotshot reputation

IPSWICH rifleman Alex Macpherson was among those to achieve top results at the recent 140th NSWRA annual State Championships in Sydney.

Macpherson hit peak form with perfect timing. The Ipswich and District Rifle Club competitor orchestrated an unbeaten run through the championships to become B grade champion for scoped rifle.

His performance was outstanding. He won the grand aggregate by an astounding 20 shots and more than 10 super centres from his nearest rival.

It was a feat made even more impressive by the fact he had only taken up the sport eight months ago.

"In his first year in the sport it's great to see him achieve results at this level,'' said club captain Glenn Rush.

Macpherson's win provided another welcome Queens victory for the Ipswich club.

It added to earlier Ipswich Queens successes - Glenn Rush (National Queens) and Josh Pratt (QRA Queens).

The NSWRA championships are the oldest running Queens in Australia and held in high regard.
