A cut above the rest

IT JUST may be one of this city's best kept secrets, but the word is out about B Indulged Hair and Beauty.

Owner Jessika Brigginshaw recently made a bold move from a home-based business to larger premises in Newtown.

With the move, comes a great deal more space and expansion of the extensive range of beauty services.

B Indulged started three years ago in Flinders View and Jessika Brigginshaw made the bold move from her secure work in telecommunications.

"I have always had a passion for the beauty industry, so I did my training at night," Mrs Brigginshaw said.

"I have always had the dream (to open her own business)."

B Indulged opened the doors on a new era and location just two months ago at 63 Blackstone Rd, Newtown.

The former Newtown Newsagency site has given way to a magnificent redevelopment.

"It is very large; in fact it is probably the largest in Ipswich. There are three areas - one for hair, the middle area is for nails and then we have three separate beauty rooms to give privacy."

She started out with, and maintains, spray tanning, lash extensions and then moved into beauty, hair and nails. Most recently she has introduced facials and massage.

"We just outgrew the home-based business and now I have four to five staff on," she said.

Mrs Brigginshaw has given specific focus to skin treatment and uses a system or service called microdermabrasion and microhydrabrasion. It is essentially vacuuming the skin and giving a complete deep clean.

"You get smoother skin - the vacuum cleans out the pores and decongests. The skin needs this type of deep cleansing and people usually get it done every six months," she said.

"For those with acne or other skin issues we do it more regularly."

They offer a skin analysis and will then recommend the appropriate treatment. For some clients it is all about having glowing skin and just feeling good.

"I am very keen to ensure that people know that this painless and highly efficient service is here in Ipswich," she said.

"I really want to get the word out to the younger generation because we can help with acne but also teach better skin care."

It is a unisex salon and Mrs Brigginshaw is delighted with the number of young and older males and females who are looking after themselves and their skin.

"Males are far more open to caring for their skin. We call it man maintenance - they usually will come in once a month and we do the hair, eyebrows, massage and skin treatment; it is really popular," she said.

Hair this season is bold and going with winter tones. Mrs Brigginshaw said reds and copper were the big ones this year.

"People are trying new colours. It is certainly warmer colours, and new colours. The trend is not to be heavily foiled - it is still popular but again it is now more subtle."

Mrs Briggenshaw puts in the hard yards, often doing spray tanning around Ipswich Cup and Christmas time up to 11pm.

"I did my last tan just last Christmas Eve finishing off at 11.45pm and I will stay late happily to ensure my customers get what they need," she said.

B Indulged offers three late nights in the week to cater for workers. She recognises that time is limited so the business is moving with the needs of clients.

It is an impressive set-up; there is real passion and professionalism delivered in this growing business.

There is on-street and off-street parking and B Indulged is open from Monday to Saturday from 9am and closes at 5pm on Monday, late Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and at 6pm on Friday.

Saturday is until 4pm and closed Sunday.

Bookings can be made on 3202 3797.
