Incumbent mayors lead the count

THE sitting mayors of the Lockyer Valley, Scenic Rim and Somerset regions are set to be re-elected.

The three mayors are set to stave off challengers to reclaim their positions.

With 27.72% of the vote counted Lockyer Valley mayor Steve Jones has received 60.77% of the vote, compared to challenger Glenroy Logan on 39.23%.

In the Scenic Rim mayor John Brent is seeing off a strong challenge from Cr Derek Swanborough with 26 of 56 booths counted.

Cr Brent has received 40.09% of the vote with Cr Swanborough receiving 31.7%. Boonah newspaper editor Wendy Creighton received 18.09% and former Beaudesert mayor Joy Drescher 10.12%.

With 16 of 17 booths counted in the Somerset mayor Graeme Lehmann is set to secure a strong victory.

Cr Lehmann has received 45.95% of the vote, with Beryce Nelson receiving 28.29% and Graham Peall 25.76%.
