Grass greener for old Bremer school site

REDEVELOPMENT of the old Bremer High School site moved a step closer with a $200,000 State Government grant for an integrated water harvesting facility on the future parklands.

Under a $10 million project, Ipswich City Council will transform the 16ha Silkstone site into a sports precinct and recreational area with a boardwalk and picnic shelters around a wetlands area, named Jim Donald Parklands.

Member for Ipswich Jennifer Howard said the water facility project involved the construction of an integrated water harvesting facility to protect a large residential and commercial precinct upstream and would double as a significant catchment area to water the sports fields.
