Idol star headlines OneHope concert

BUNDABERG residents will get the opportunity to see 2009 Australian Idol winner Stan Walker when he headlines inaugural music festival OneHope in Bundaberg later this month.

President Don Robinson said organising the drug- and alcohol-free event was the result of a lot of people who believed a concert like this was possible in Bundaberg.

"We believe the quality line-up will bring people from Rockhampton and the Sunshine Coast to Bundaberg," he said.

"Hopefully we see a good crowd enjoying themselves in a happy, safe environment."

Citicoast pastor Mark Riddell said the church was one of a number of Bundaberg churches that had thrown their support behind the initiative.

"It's been a combined effort from the churches of Bundaberg to create an event for the community of Bundaberg," he said.

Bundaberg Regional Council community and arts spokeswoman Judy Peters said the family friendly event would appeal to all ages.

The full day event will be held at the Bundaberg Showgrounds on June 23 from 10am and will feature 23 acts including eight local artists.
