Hunt on for man who robbed a taxi and stole another car

A MAN has stolen a car and fled after threatening and robbing a taxi driver in Strathpine last night.

Police say around 3am a man caught a taxi from Emily Street, Acacia Ridge.

The trip ended at Samsonvale Road at Strathpine where the passenger went into an address to get someone to help in pay the fare. 

When he found nobody home, he allegedly pulled out a knife and threatened the male driver. 

The driver was able to get out of the taxi and ran down Samsonvale Road before flagging down another driver to call the police.

The taxi was tracked by GPS to address in Cotton Street at Lawnton where police saw the man in a different car with a man and a woman.

He forced the woman out and fled in the car with the male passenger.

Anyone who sees a Holden Captiva with Queensland registration 068-VGQ, the should not approach it but instead should call 000.
