Hundreds will enjoy Sunday Funday
VISION Christian Family's North Booval church grounds will be the place to go for a free day of fun on Sunday, August 31.
The annual Sunday Funday has been providing budget-conscious families with a variety of food, entertainment and rides for more than a decade, and has been gaining popularity each year.
The church, like the neighbourhood surrounding it, was severely affected by the 2011 floods, but was on the receiving end of the type of generosity that typified the Ipswich spirit at the time.
Pastor Geoff Wilson said the free community day was the church's way of saying thank-you to the people who helped in its time of need.
"We were quite badly flooded," he said.
"There was about 2.5m of water through the church on ground level.
"We had lots of help though, and this event gives us the opportunity to say thanks."
The church is hoping to attract upwards of 300 people to the family-friendly event, where everything is free.
The funday will feature carnival rides, a jumping castle, pony rides, rock wall climbing, a slippery slide and face painting.
The Vision Christian Family Church is at 58 Gledson St, North Booval.
Festivities run from 9.30am-noon.
