Hundreds of thousands expected to acknowledge Anzac Day

HUNDREDS of thousands of Australians are expected to converge on capital cities and regional towns on Friday for Anzac Day this year.

This year the national memorial day will also commemorate the 99th anniversary of the landing on the shores of Gallipoli on April 25 1915.

It marks the final Anzac Day memorial before the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli landing next year.

A special ceremony planned for the national capital will see the Royal couple, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, attend the national ceremony, along with four living Victoria Cross recipients.

Australians will remember the fallen soldiers and those who served in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping missions around the globe.

Dawn services across the country will begin from before 5am on the eastern seaboard.
