Christmas has come early
TYPICALLY a time of sizzling hot days and sweltering nights, Ipswichians can enjoy a Christmas celebration with a difference next month.
The Metro Hotel Ipswich International is set to get into the festive spirit, holding Christmas in July functions on Saturday, July 9, and 23.
General manager Alex van Kersen said the evenings offered guests the opportunity to enjoy a traditional hot Christmas dinner and festivities in the true European tradition.
“It is a nice way to get into the festive spirit,” Mr van Kersen said.
“Our Christmases are usually so hot.
“We thought what a great alternative doing it in July when it is nice and cold.”
Held from 6pm onwards, diners can enjoy traditional fare with all the trimmings, such as roast turkey or baked ham, followed by plum pudding with warm brandy anglaise and vanilla ice cream, or the traditional Australian Christmas favourite, pavlova with fresh Queensland fruit and raspberry coulis.
To get diners into the spirit of the evenings, all tables will be decorated to reflect the Christmas theme with bon bons and festive decorations.
Freshly brewed tea and coffee, served with chocolates, will complete the festive feast.
Guests can enjoy just the meal, paying $45 for two courses or $54 for three courses, or for those wanting to truly enjoy the spirit of Christmas, stay the night in a twin share room and enjoy a complimentary breakfast.
