LETTER: Hospital staff work overtime on their PR

IN a world with so much negativity going around, I wish to publicly express my thanks to the staff of Ipswich Hospital.

I recently had a fall at home on the ceramic tiled kitchen floor, resulting in a dislocated elbow and shattered funny bone.

Upon arrival at the emergency department I was assessed by the triage nurse and attended to immediately.

Surgery was delayed for a few days to allow swelling to subside, making the delicate procedure a little safer with less likelihood of complications.

After 2.5 hours in surgery I was admitted to ward 5F.

I do not have the words to describe the professionalism and devoted care I received from nursing staff, not only ward 5F but everyone from admissions, to surgeons including preparatory and recovery wards.

Everyone went over and beyond what would be expected of them, as per their job description, to make sure my hospital stay was as comfortable as could possibly be.

A fracture dislocation of this nature is extremely painful but I am so glad that I live in the city of Ipswich and was able to be treated at Ipswich Hospital, a hospital rated among the very best.
