‘Horror movie’: Life in jail after suburban stabbing rampage

The sister of slain man Daryl Corcoran says her heart sank when she saw a Facebook post from his murderer warning he would see him in hell.

Allison Shorten described her angst to a court on Tuesday before Osmond Roy Greig was sentenced to life in jail.

"I will see him in hell so he knows that no man who goes after a married woman deserves any happiness," the 43-year-old murderer wrote on Facebook on November 22, 2016.

Moments later, Greig stabbed Mr Corcoran to death at the Alexandra Hills home he was sharing with Greig's three children and his ex-wife Maya Greig.

He had broken in through a back window.

Brisbane Supreme Court heard Greig used a knife to slice Mr Corcoran's face, throat, back and stomach.

Mrs Greig then wrangled the weapon away from her ex-husband who attempted to cut his throat.

She told the court she was covered in blood as her once quiet street appeared "more like the scene of a horror movie".

The court heard Greig, in the days prior to the murder had sent a series of threats to Mrs Greig via text.

He spent 1629 days in custody before pleading guilty on Tuesday to three charges including murder and burglary at night.

His trial was due to commence on Monday but barrister Benedict Power three weeks ago indicated his client would plead guilty.

Mr Power said he would not make submissions on sentencing.

Justice Ann Lyons said Greig inflicted 86 injuries on Mr Corcoran who died of blood loss.

"Nothing can ever explain your appalling actions on that night," she said.

"You took another man's life in a violent, sustained, premeditated, planned, anger-fuelled attack in front of your estranged wife Maya with your children in the house."

Greig will be eligible for parole after serving 20 years.
