Holiday fun doesn't leave children cold
MID-year school holidays have arrived and as the colder weather hits, parents may be scratching their heads for fun, winter holiday activities.
Fortunately, there is a long list of events available in Ipswich across the next two weeks to keep the kids entertained and stimulated during their time off.
Ipswich City Council's Active Breaks program returns again to offer a range of free, healthy activities for Ipswich youngsters aged five - 17 years.
Delivered by the Ipswich Sports House more than 20 sessions will be held throughout the region during the holiday period.
On the list of activities are: trampoline sessions, first-swing golf lessons, lawn bowls, soccer and netball games.
Ipswich Art Gallery is also a venue worth visiting during the winter break, with their Creative Contraptions Party Week held from Monday, June 24, to Friday, June 28.
The event will see kids discover the scientist and artist within through a series of free activities including real 'live volcano' demonstrations.
Children taking part will also be able to get to make their own slippery slime and create fun sculptures using everyday materials.
There will also be some magical fun at the The Workshops Rail Museum with the Wizards Express event available each day for family's to enjoy until July 14.
The Queens Park Environmental Education Centre will also hold a variety of 'Kids Go Wild' activities during the holidays with eco workshops, a children's theatre performance and an interactive ocean life education session.

- The Ipswich Art Gallery is hosting a Creative Contraptions Party Week as part of the Gallery's school holiday program. Free children's activities will include real 'live volcano' experiment demonstrations. Children will also be able to get 'hands-on' making their own slippery slime as well as fun sculptures using everyday materials. The event will be held from Monday, June 24, to Friday, June 28, each day from 9am - 12noon.
- The Bananas in Pyjamas are coming to Redbank Plaza with a live show featuring some of their much-loved songs as featured in their TV series and some fun dance steps boys and girls can follow along with. Performances will be held daily at 11am and 1pm, between June 24 - June 29, at the stage located next to Aldi on level one. There will also be a meet and greet session at noon.
- Ipswich City Council's Active Breaks program will return with a huge list of activities and event for kids to enjoy these holidays. Activities include a disc (frisbee) golf at Limestone Park, lawn bowls for youngsters at Goodna Bowls Club, tae kwon do lessons at Ipswich PCYC and netball at Evan Marginson Sporting Complex. - Come and cook with food stylist Nicola Davis in her Kids Cooking Workshop at Orion Shopping Centre, Springfield. Sessions will be held outside Big W each hour from 10am-1pm. Bookings are essential and you must be an Advantageclub member to take part in the activity for free. The event will be held daily from June 24 - June 28.
