Hoges drops into M'boro cafe for a coffee
A MARYBOROUGH chef and her staff were over the moon when they received a surprise visit from touring funnyman Paul Hogan.
Alli Duggan, co-owner of Allikats on Kent in Maryborough, said the Crocodile Dundee star came in just before lunch on Monday.
"I didn't see him when he came in," she said.
"When they sat at the table I gave them the menus ... I told them to ask if they have any questions about the menu.
Mr Hogan was in Maryborough for his latest show, titled HOGES; One Night Only! The hilarious truth and nothing but the truth.
Mrs Duggan said while she was a fan of Hoges, she had to explain to one teenage staffer who he was.
"I've watched all his movies," she said.
"All of his Crocodile Dundees, as a kid growing up."
Mrs Duggan described Hoges as extremely polite.
"Very down to earth, a lovely guy," she said.
"The entourage he had with him, they were also lovely.
"I asked if I could get a photo of the legend himself."
Mrs Duggan said Mr Hogan told her he'd heard of her.
"I felt like a celebrity," she said.
Mrs Duggan said Hoges wasn't the first celebrity to visit Allikats.
"We've had Kasey Chambers, Carl Barron, Akmal (Saleh), Anthony from the Wiggles, Angel Tupai from X Factor and Guy Sebastian's back crew, his wife and child.
Paul Hogan's two-hour show at the Brolga Theatre included a combination of stand-up, storytelling and unseen clips.
