Heritage trails steeped in history

IPSWICH City Council has urged people to explore the unique history and heritage of Ipswich and its surrounds.

Planning and Development Committee chairman Paul Tully said a wonderful resource was available to help people explore the local area.

“In 1998, Council's Strategic Planning Branch reviewed their existing heritage trails, and a new format and design was created for future publications which was named the Then and Now series,” Cr Tully said.

“The Ipswich Heritage Trail brochures act as a resource for local residents, students and visitors as they capture the local history of the Ipswich area.

“We are also exploring the development of a number of new heritage trail brochures to highlight further aspects of Ipswich's history.”
