I AM so excited. Something I have known about for a while has now gone live - it's out there for everyone to see and know.

The 202020 vision is here.

I know I can see you all squirming in your seats with excitement. The 202020 vision is exciting.

Hmmm, what's that? You don't know about the 202020 vision? Well, by golly gosh, it's a good thing you have me.

We all know our cities need more plants and trees. They're good for our health and productivity, keep cities cool and reduce pollution.

People even heal faster when they're around them.

Yet, so often, plants and trees are overlooked when plans are drawn and concrete poured. Plants are over looked even when we green plan.

We are so involved in making sure our paint is environmentally friendly, our computers are carbon neutral, our carpets don't have toxins and we forget the easiest way to be green is to plant green.

The 202020 Vision is a national campaign that plans on reminding us all how important green space is and how easy it is to achieve.

But what is the 202020 vision? We want to increase our urban green space by 20% by 2020. Simple.

The 202020 vision wants to bring together a network of people and organisations, from all industries, and every level of government, who support more green spaces.

These visionaries will work together to identify Australia's finest green space projects.

These Green spaces will then be mapped, measured, researched and publicised.

There is a hope that Australia's best green space projects are seen more widely and everyone is encouraged and inspired.

Councils, developers and communities will be so inspired they plant more trees and create bigger and better green spaces.

We will all enjoy 20% more green spaces in our cities by 2020. Simple.

The vision needs your help to become a reality because we all know it's not that simple.

Are you part of a project that inspires people to create best practice, greener urban areas?

It can be a new or recent project. It can be indoor or outdoor, large or small.

A community garden, a council environmental centre, a commercial build that has an amazing green space.

Broadcast your project - inspire people. All projects are mapped; let's make Ipswich have the most inspiring stories for the 202020 vision.

The 202020 vision doesn't just need projects it needs people too.

Many great Australians have become advocates. Josh Byrne, of Gardening Australia fame, is one of them.

So many large corporations and councils have come on board in supporting this - like Medibank Private and the City of Melbourne.

Both Trevallan and myself are proud partners in this amazing vision too.

Ipswich has so many amazing green spaces we need as a city to support the 202020 vision and inspire others not only to create their own green space but to also come and visit ours.

Help the 202020 vision become a reality. Go on, you are excited now.
