Healthy heroes to spread the word to Ipswich kids
THEY leap, sing and dance, and all in the name of entertaining children while teaching the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, and they are coming to Ipswich Civic Centre.
The Boogie Woogies Superhero Band will be bringing their own brand of education through fun to Ipswich, and 1000 eager schoolchildren cannot wait for them to arrive on Monday, July 25.
Selina Box, who plays 'Lovable Sally' in the show, said the band is passionate about educating children on the benefits of a healthy lifestyle through the powerful medium of music and arts.
"Children really love the Eat Smart B Active LIVE show as it empowers them with the knowledge to make healthier choices in a really fun and engaging way," Ms Box said.
"I encourage any parent whose kids love superheroes to come along to the show - especially parents who want their kids to eat more fruit and vegetables."
Ms Box said the group were grateful for the support the show received from the Happy Healthy Kidz children's charity, as well as the Collier Charitable Fund.

Tickets are also available to the public however seats are strictly limited and will sell out fast for this unique opportunity to be part of the studio audience for the filming.
Eat Smart B Active LIVE is being filmed at the Ipswich Civic Centre on Monday, July 25, with shows at 9.30am and 1pm.
The show developed from a concern that children were starting to develop preventable 'lifestyle' diseases, and the group wanted to help fight the problem, Ms Box said.
"We saw a need for the show, things like childhood obesity, preventable chronic disease, this is some thing we care about, so we put together this unique and innovative show, that kids love."
Ms Box said the current show started in 2012, but the Boogie Woogies Superhero Band first played in 1997.
"It is just about making kids happy, we write songs to empower them, and encourage them to be their best."
The band was the brainchild of Ms Box and David McCallum, aka 'Guitar Dave', with Karl Pitkin ('Tricky Tony') and Samantha Green joining in recent years.
"We recruited Karl out of Melbourne, and then Sam auditioned for us four years ago, she joined for the Eat Smart B Active shows, and has been with us ever since."
